6.5 Space Agencies / Raumfahrtagenturen

Raumfahrtagenturen sind die staatlichen Organisationen, die Weltraumforschung, Satellitenprogramme und Raumfahrtmissionen planen, entwickeln und durchführen. Ihre Arbeit umfasst Wissenschaft, Erdbeobachtung, Navigation, Telekommunikation und bemannte Raumfahrt.

Die NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration, USA, gegründet 1958) ist die weltweit größte Raumfahrtagentur mit einem jährlichen Budget von über 25 Milliarden Dollar. Die ESA (European Space Agency, gegründet 1975) koordiniert die europäische Raumfahrt mit 22 Mitgliedstaaten. Roscosmos (Russland), JAXA (Japan), CNSA (China) und ISRO (Indien) sind weitere bedeutende Agenturen.

Die internationale Zusammenarbeit ist ein Grundpfeiler der modernen Raumfahrt. Die ISS ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt von fünf Agenturen. ESA und JAXA kooperieren bei BepiColombo, NASA und ESA beim JWST und Mars Sample Return.

Kleinere Agenturen wie die Canadian Space Agency (CSA), KARI (Südkorea) und die UAE Space Agency spielen zunehmend wichtige Rollen durch spezialisierte Beiträge und eigene Missionen.

Space agencies are governmental organizations that plan, develop, and execute space research, satellite programs, and spaceflight missions. Their work encompasses science, Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, and human spaceflight.

NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration, USA, founded 1958) is the world's largest space agency with an annual budget exceeding 25 billion dollars. ESA (European Space Agency, founded 1975) coordinates European space activities with 22 member states. Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), CNSA (China), and ISRO (India) are other major agencies.

International cooperation is a cornerstone of modern spaceflight. The ISS is a joint project of five agencies. ESA and JAXA cooperate on BepiColombo, NASA and ESA on JWST and Mars Sample Return.
